Nakina is a town that was founded along the Canadian National Railway where the line from Winnipeg branches south towards Toronto. Long since removed, but during World War II there was a United States Armed Forces radar base on the edge of the town intended to watch for a potential attack of Sault Ste Marie, which is at the intersection of Lake Superior & Lake Huron. Tourism and Mining industries are the main focus of this area.
